Lenovo (Beijing) Ltd. has crafted the YOGA 900s as a stylish and elegant hybrid Ultrabook. With a thickness of just 12.8mm, it holds the title of the world's slimmest device in the convertible category. The design team drew inspiration from a journal, incorporating elements such as the way a journal opens, rotates 360 degrees, and is held in one hand. The contrasting side view between the external shell and internal body is reminiscent of a journal, adding a familiar and comfortable touch to the device.

The YOGA 900s boasts unique features that set it apart from other devices. Its innovative watch band hinge, which can rotate 360 degrees, adapts to different scenarios, offering flexibility and convenience. The device's 10.5-hour long battery life supports an 'always-on' lifestyle, while the web-core carbon embedded in the A cover makes it thin, light, and strong. The addition of leather on the C cover provides a soft touch, enhancing comfort for holding and typing.

Creating the YOGA 900s was not without its challenges. The design team had to overcome the difficulty of crafting an extremely thin and light convertible in such a small size (12.5in, 12.8mm, 999g). They achieved this by using the lightest materials available, such as web core carbon for the A cover and super magnalium for the D cover. The result is a device that is not only visually appealing but also comfortable and easy to use.

The YOGA 900s is operated using the watch chain hinge, composed of 813 individual components for fluid transitions between modes. The laptop's weight is distributed across six discrete hinge points, compared to the two used by competitors, allowing for smoother and steadier mode changes. The use of materials such as leather and carbon fiber enhances user comfort in terms of weight, thickness, and touch feeling.

The YOGA 900s's innovative design and exceptional functionality have not gone unnoticed. In 2016, it was awarded the Platinum A' Digital and Electronic Device Design Award, recognizing world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that showcase unmatched professionalism and contribute to societal wellbeing.
